Welcome all Trailblazer families!

We have implemented AVID school-wide at Marcus Whitman Middle School. AVID is an acronym that stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. AVID’s purpose of ensuring college and career readiness for all students fits perfectly with our mission to provide our students with structure, instruction, support and a safe environment to ensure high levels of learning to prepare them for college and careers in the 21st century. We are beginning this focus by emphasizing the importance of organization and the student use of binders and planners. You can help emphasize this importance by ensuring your student has an organized binder. Also throughout the year, ask your child to share with you his/her planner. The planner should record either homework or the focus of class each day.
