Our Mission

Our mission at Marcus Whitman is to provide our students with structure, instruction, support and a safe environment to ensure high levels of learning to prepare them for college and careers in the 21st century.

Our Vision

Nurturing growth, Inspiring achievement, Building community.

Marcus Whitman Middle School focuses on providing students with a caring, supportive environment during their adolescent years. We have a staff that understands and focuses on meeting the needs of adolescent students. Marcus Whitman has been regionally accredited since 1979. We place a priority on establishing a safe/comfortable learning environment for kids, and enlist student support to that end. We recently developed a school improvement plan focused on improving student achievement and our learning environment, and will monitor the effectiveness of the plan. Our focus has been on building continual improvement into our educational program.

Marcus Whitman Middle School was built in 1979. The 102,405 square foot building is located on a 16.32 acre site. Eight portable classrooms are currently in use. In addition, the school was used throughout the year for parent meetings, school evening activities, the South Kitsap School District Community Schools program and special events. The athletic fields and gymnasiums are also used by community youth and athletic organizations.
