Kitsap Regional Library Youth Advisory Board

Do you love all things books! Serve on this youth board and create activities and happenings, as well as review and suggest books for the youth collection at the PO Library downtown. See your ELA teacher for information, or see the Kitsap Regional Library's website.

Life Center of Port Orchard
Assist in reading to, or crafting with elderly adults. The Life Center of Port Orchard is located on Pottery Avenue across the street from Cedar Heights Middle School. Go to the front desk and ask for an Activities Center Volunteer application. For more information call (360) 876-8035 and speak with Kim Apple.

Relay for Life
Relay for Life (American Cancer Society) is held every Spring! All student volunteers will need to give Mrs. Little their names and phones numbers. From there the Relay Youth Coordinator will contact you about jobs and times for which you are needed. This is a great community event that raises money for cancer research, patient services and support, amongst many other programs. We walk to POWER OVER CANCER! See Mrs. Little in the Guidance Office.

Kitsap Youth in Action (KYA)
KYA engages youth in grades 7 through 12 in a variety of service learning opportunities throughout Kitsap County. KYA also provides youth leadership and life skills trainings and development opportunities. The youth volunteers are supervised and lead by adult AmeriCorps members.

KYA Volunteers spend service hours in many different ways:

Valentine’s for Vets, KCR Christmas Angels Program, The Coffee Oasis, Bremerton Community Theater, The American Red Cross “Send Hunger Packing”, MLK Day Project Connect, Bremerton Parks and Recreation, Bremerton PAWS, Horse Harbor and Bremerton Graffiti Taskforce

Eligibility
All youth living in Kitsap County and in grades 7 through 12 are welcome in the Kitsap Youth in Action program. Youth volunteers who wish to remain in the program after high school graduation may do so as adult KYA volunteers. All applicants must pass a background check to participate in KYA activities. Youth volunteerism encompasses all skill levels and abilities.
